Where to stay: north of Athens

Bookable places for 9 (Nov 3–10)

Airbnb search run 12 Oct 2026, page 1 of each search, for 5 adults + 4 children. Prices are approximate trip totals in Israeli shekels (ILS), incl. taxes, as shown on 12 Oct — they change; confirm on Airbnb. Bed counts vary: check that every listing really sleeps 9. Note: the “Kifisia” searches returned mostly Marousi, Agia Paraskevi, Gerakas and Nea Erythraia — not Kifisia itself, and the central-Athens week search also returned suburbs (e.g. Agia Marina, Vari, Ilioupoli, Aigaleo); each card shows the straight-line distance to Kifisia metro station.

New plan: an Airbnb within ~30 min north/north-east of the centre, close to nature. Check: lift or ground floor for Grandma, 2+ bathrooms, beds for 9, parking for a van, heating (November nights ~11–13°C).

Kifisia ⭐

Leafy, cooler than the centre, shops, cafés, Goulandris museum, Kefalari park; Line 1 metro terminus (≈34 min to Monastiraki).

Ekali

Purely residential, forested suburb ~4 km from Kifisia and ~16 km from central Athens; villa-style homes. Not on the metro — you’d drive to Kifisia station.

Nea Erythraia

More urban, ~14 km from central Athens, right next to Kifisia’s amenities.

Dionysos

Further out (~18 km from centre), on the slopes of Penteli; railway station at Agios Stefanos; bus links to Kifisia. Closest to the Penteli walk and Lake Marathon.

Penteli

Mountain area with villas (listings cover Ekali, Nea Erythraia, Dionysos and Penteli). Expect hills and a car-dependent stay.
